(this is because of the nationwide economic crisis that’s hit all the states, but most definitely hit Oregon very nearly the hardest (right up there with Michigan);I am by nature the type that prefers to stay at one place for the long-term, especially within my chosen profession working where my passions lie, so this work situation has been a very trying time for a multitude of reasons)

Landscape Architecture - Designer

·         Assisted in the schematic design development of a diverse range of project

       types including Landscape Architecture Design, Urban Design and Sustainable

       Design

        ·         Prepared construction document packages for a wide variety of project

       types and sizes  

·         Created AutoCAD and other computer graphics using software programs such as

Photoshop CS3, Illustratpr CS3, InDesign CS3, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google SketchUp

·         Created manual drafting design elements using pens, watercolor paints, markers,

and colored pencils

·         Created models for presentation of designs at various phases, including

full-scale models of Deborah Butterfield's horse sculptures at Portland International

Airport, which she used in the choosing of a truly moving relocation site for the Airport

Way project we were working on.  She is a perfectionist, wanting her sculptures and their

location to be exceptionally moving to their viewers, so that the models had to be flawless

likenesses of the horses, creating in her mind a perfect visualization of how the horses

and the new site complimented one another.  A quote by Ms. Butterfield makes it clear why

the model horses I made had to be unquestionably flawless, making it palpable that the

experience she desired viewers to draw from these specific horses was achieved, "My

horses' gestures are really quite quiet, [...] For the pieces I make, the gesture is really

more within the body, it's like an internalized gesture, which is more about [...] the

state of mind or of being at a given instant."

·         Worked daily with multiple design teams; collaborated with fellow designers

at full capacity as a Landscape Designer and Project Associate

·         Communicated and worked closely with clients, Project Managers, Associates

and Principals on all aspects of project development  

·        Proficient in the design process, professional office protocol/practice, rendering,

computer and hand drafting, as well as project-based photography

·        Attended phone conferences on behalf of Principals and Project Managers, as well

as used the company car to attend meetings personally, then typed and distributed the

notes taken to each member of the design team

multiple donated playgrounds for needy neighborhoods
